Okay…this is huge. This mac and cheese is pretty much our livelihood, and what we are truly known for. And now, you’ll actually be able to make it for yourself, as often as you like. Here we go.
What do I need?
1/2 pound of pasta (really any shape, but for this recipe we used Cavatappi)
1/2 cup of parmesan cheese
1 cup of mozzarella cheese
1 cup of cheddar cheese
1/4 cup of breadcrumbs
4 tablespoons of butter
4 tablespoons of flour
2 cups of warm milk
salt & peppa
What do I do?
1) Boil water (adding salt to taste), then cook the pasta for about 8 minutes, or until ~al dente~
2) Drain the pasta once it’s done cooking, and set aside.
3) Combine the butter and flour in the warm saucepan (this makes something called a “roux”, which is commonly used to thicken sauces) and stir until combined (there should be no lumps, butter should be fully melted). Let simmer.
4) Add the milk, little by little, to the butter and flower mixture, and stir until well combined. Let it cook until it is nice and thick.
5) Turn of the heat, then add the three cheeses and the salt and pepper. Mix it alllll up.
6) Add the cooked pasta to the cheese mixture, and again, mix it alllll up.
7) Pour into an oven-safe bowl or dish, and top it off with the breadcrumbs.
8) Bake at 400 degrees for about 20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
9) Remove from oven, and ENJOY!!!!!!
There you have it, folks! This recipe is our go-to, but you can certainly switch up the pasta shape and types of cheese to your liking. Maybe even throw in some bacon bits if you’re feeling extra crazy! We’d love to see whatever version of this you decide to make, so send your food pics our way :)
